Geeks for Good: Canned Food Drive at the Dec. Providence Geeks Dinner

Posted by Jack

In the spirit of the season, we’re joining our collective Geeky forces to help out the local community. At next week’s Providence Geeks meeting (Wednesday 12/17 5:30pm-9pm at AS220), in addition to the usual beer, tech and mirth, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Please feel free to bring 1 can or 100 – we’ll be set up to receive as much as you can give!

Here’s a list RI Food Bank of what’s most needed:

· Protein: Canned Soup, Tuna, Meat, Peanut Butter, Nuts and Canned & Dried Beans
· Canned Fruits & Vegetables including Juices and Tomato Sauce
· Carbohydrates: Nutritious Breakfast Cereals, Whole Wheat Pasta, Brown Rice
· Crackers, Granola Bars and Cheese & Cracker Packages
· Canned Stews and Chili
· Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Please watch for expiration dates. Food item’s use by or best if sold by date should not be
over six months old. No glass jars of baby food please. Boxed cereals and formula are needed
if they are unopened and within date code.

Come on down and prove that Providence Geeks have hearts of gold. We hope to see you there! RSVP and Details here.
